We had a very emotional day today as we have had our end of year class assembly. Miss could not look at our video without getting all emotional. We can not believe that we only have this week left in the Infant department and then we will be moving on to the Juniors. Our parents enjoyed our singing, presentation of memories and our achievement certificates. It was lovely to share our time in Dosbarth Glas with everybody. Have a look at our video below but you may need some tissues if you are anything like miss!
We have been working hard today on our literacy skills. We looked at an exciting new cereal called 'Jig Snaps' and then we got to make up our own. We had to design the cereal and then we began devising an advertisement campaign. We loved trying to find exciting names for our cereals and of course the best ingredients. We now need to video our adverts - we will keep you posted.
Dosbarth Glas have been very busy today. We started by working with Dosbarth Arian, showing them all we know about the apps on the iPads. We shared our knowledge and all the tricks we have learnt. Some of us worked on Scratch on the PC's and worked on creating a computer game with them. We then worked on our assembly for Monday. We are very excited and hopefully we will remember all our words.
Problem solving galore in our class today. We were working on lots of problems which took a great deal of our thinking skills, communication skills and problem solving strategies to work out. Some of us then worked on LOGO on the iPads, trying to program the turtle to move around objects, making shapes and using commands. We found some of it challlenging but as our motto is 'Believe and Achieve' we did not give up. Some of us worked on the programming language 'Scratch'. We had lots of fun as we were making our characters tell jokes and making the apples disappear from the trees. We then worked on our end of year assembly but we are not telling you about that yet as it is a surprise...
Today we started the day reflected back on our year in Dosbarth Glas. We have had so much fun and have participated in lots of exciting projects that it was hard to choose one memory. We shared our memories with each other and now they are ready so we can share them with our parents at our class assembly. Here is a peek at a few of them. My best memory of Year 2 is... My best memory of Year 2 is... My best memory of Year 2 is... Today the learning detectives went to the University of South Wales, Treforest to visit the Big Bang 2013. Two children from each class from Year 2 to Year 6 went with Miss Howells and Mr Dacey. We had lots of fun! We looked at all the STEM projects that schools had participated in. We went in a Star Globe, where they told us all about the stars. Then we had to solve lots of science problems with the help of Techniquest. Technocamps were having a robotics challenge and we saw all the robots they had made. After lunch we saw Fran Scott from CBBC who exploded lots of things. The explosions were loud and made us jump. We found lots of things that we would like to do but now we have to persuade Mr Dacey to spend some money!
Today we had a fantastic day in Cardiff Bay. After our initial problem with the bus, (we should have gone with Miss Howells in the TARDIS) we arrived at the Doctor Who Experience and had a lovely tour. We then went to the Senedd and guess what was there.....
Yes that's right our TARDIS and a Dalek! It was fabulous. We met our AM Leighton Andrews and also Keith Davies who is the AM for Llanelli. We told him all about the ICT project we have been doing with Bryn Primary School then we showed him our ebooks. It was so much fun and we are very proud of the work we have done. Have a look at some of our photographs below. Today we have been very busy. We started the day with an art lesson with Miss Phillips and investigated the work of Andy Goldsworthy. We looked at his sculptures. Some of us used the 'Brushes' app and the 'Art Rage' app on the iPads to recreate his work and some of us created a sculpture. Thank you Miss Phillips we had a brilliant lesson! We then worked really hard on our mathematical problem solving and looked at multiplication patterns. In the afternoon we participated in the Cardiff City Penalty Shoot out. We had lots of fun and scored lots of goals.
