We have been looking at writing instructions this week. Today we tried to make a sandwich for a badger in the story 'The Disgusting Sandwich'. The ingredients we used included mud, pond slime, worms, mouse droppings and twigs. We came up with loads of adjectives to describe our ingredients and to make our sandwiches sound as disgusting as possible. Tomorrow we are going to set out a recipe to make the sandwich during our Big Writing session. As you can see from the pictures, our disgusting sandwiches tasted delicious!
This week we have been looking at extending sentences. We started by looking at adjectives and how to they help with descriptive writing. We looked at adverbs and how they help describe the verb. We have done a lot of work on connectives and how we can use them to extend our sentences. By using a comma sandwich, we were able to turn our sentences into super sentences. On Friday we worked really hard by using super sentences in our writing - dressed in our onesies!
We have beendoing a lot of work on World War 1 and why it is iportant to remember those who took part in the war 100 years later. On monday we all took part in a special online assembly hosted by Discovery Education, that was watched by thousands of children around the world. It showed us the poppie instalation around the Tower of London.
On Rememberance day we had a special assembly innn the hall with visitors from the royal British Legion. The last post was played and at 11 O'clock we had minutes silence to remember the sacrifice the soldiers gave. Throughout the day we had a street party in the hall, the children were all dressed up and we had caake and biscuits to celebrate the end of the war. |
