In Dosbarth Melyn, we love to find out facts and explore the living world.
So much has happened this week and we have had lots of fun in our learning.

Elephants
We began the week reading a book called Elmer. We decided we wanted to find out about real elephants. Is there really such a thing as a patchwork elephant? Well of course there is not but we did find out more fascinating facts about them!

We also painted a patch work Elmer by stamping squares onto an elephant and designed a new design for Elmer day.

Slithery Snakes
On Thursday, Miss Tudor read a new Elmer book she had found called 'Elmer and the Snake.' This made us want to find out more about snakes. (Although Miss wasn't too happy about this.)
Well... We think they are facinating!

The Solar eclipse 2015
When we arrived to school today there was something different going on. Miss explained that it was a special day and that there was going to be a solar eclipse. This happens when the moon travels between the sun and earth and blocks the light,
We took all sorts of equipment outside to see if we could see the shadow of the eclipse. We were not allowed to look at the sun as it would hurt our eyes.
Well it was really exciting! We saw that the sky and light went a bit darker. There was a very strange sort of light. It also went very cold outside as the sun couldn't give us any heat.
We saw the shadow of the moon moving in front of the sun and thought it looked cool!
What a fantastic experience... the next one one happen for another 11 years. We will be between 15 and 18 then and our teachers said they don't want to think about how old they will be!
We have really enjoyed our experiences this week; learning new facts, seeing new things and of course having fun and learning with out friends.
Take a look at our photos from this week. Its nearly the Easter holidays(ALREADY) and we can't wait for our easter activities next week! I wonder what we will be doing?
