Well, what an exciting week at Cwmclydach. We have been really busy celebrating special days this week.
First we had Saint David's Day. We spent the day looking at different things that make our country special. Our first activity was making Welsh cakes. They were really tasty. We got slightly messy as we had to use our hands to mix all the ingredients. They were't proper Welsh cakes as none of us like sultanas but they tasted just as nice without them.
We also made our own Welsh flags, making the dragon with our hand prints. This was also a messy activity as we had to put paint on our hands.
Of course, we also had time in the hall as well, we saw traditional Welsh dancing and sang the Welsh Anthem. What a busy day.
As this week also had World book day, we read a book from Roald Dahl, who was also from Wales. We read 'The Enormous Crocodile.' This was all about a crocodile who tries lots of mean tricks to catch and eat small children. None of his tricks worked as the other animals in the jungle managed to stop him. He was eventually stopped by the elephant who threw him into the air so hard that he ended up flying to the sun and was never seen again.
We spent the week exploring this book and finding out about crocodiles. Did you know that they hatched from eggs and baby crocodiles are called hatchlings? We also found out that they have 66 teeth and if one of them falls out there is always another one that will drop into place. They are very scaly and can swim as fast as a dolphin. We were shocked at this information.
We have had a lot of fun this week learning new facts and getting our hands dirty. I wonder where our adventures will take us next?
