What a fantastic trip Dosbarth Aur have had today. We visited Wild Spirit Wakes bushcraft camp near Bridgend. Our leaders were there to greet us at the gate and gave us a warm welcome. The fire was also warm and welcoming when our guides sat us down and told us the events of the day. We began by making wood cookies so leaders would know our names, then split into two groups to complete our challenges. One group was taught the art of making fire and extinguishing it safely while the other worked on den building. We also got to toast marshmallows on the fire and complete a scavenger hunt. Team work and co-operation were the objectives of the day which we succeeded in achieving. We lit our fires and made a waterproof shelter. To quote" this is the best school trip we have ever been on" thanks to bushcraft wales for making our day fun and worthwhile. We shall be back.
The Summer Term has got off to a busy start for Dosbarth Aur. Mr Ben Vaughan has assisted with the development of a song involving some of Dosbarth Aur's E Cadets. Some of the children have assisted with delivering our latest History project to Mr Dave Maddox who is also a local historian as well as a judge of the Heritage Award. We are feeling hopeful. In class our theme Castaway has hit off to an excellent start. We are using the project planned by A Tale Unfolds where children have to unfold and develop the story of Cindy Ann and Bones and the Temple of Boom. We are currently working on script writing and have enjoyed filming who the mysterious writer could be. Fun at 5 a day is also working well our favourite so far is the pirate 5 a day. This week we are developing our DT skills through our school trip where we will be den building our team spirit will b evident in this activity. We are hoping for good weather so we don't get too muddy!!! Photos of trip to follow next week. |
