Wow! What a busy week we have had. On Monday we found out that the Hungry Caterpillar was on the loose and had been munching his way through our playtime fruit. We had to use our number ordering skills to help sort this problem out. We helped Mrs Hughes with the fruit orders. Designed a picnic for him to eat the fruit in the correct order and practiced our number order skills by threading giant caterpillars. We went on a mini beast hunt in the school grounds and saw the grand opening of our garden centre. We practiced our Welsh reading skills with Fflic a Fflac and after such a busy week we ended with some 5 a Day meditation.

We have had a busy start to the Summer Term. This term our topic is "Garden Super Heroes." We decided that our garden superheroes were the mini beast. This week we have been having lots of fun playing our own version of mini beast twister, writing fact files and making and painting models of our garden heroes. In Maths we have had lots of fun learning about repeating patterns. Check out the photos below. We visited the Hwb to design our own Mini Beast with their very own special superhero powers. We had fun in our mud kitchen, gnome land and mini beast tuff tray.
This week our activities have been based around the story "The Train Ride." Check out what fantastic learning we have been up to below: We have been creating our own story maps, writing postcards to tell everyone what we saw and acting out the story in the small world area. During Maths we designed our own number train in the outdoor area. Built Numicon trains in the sand and designed our own number games about a train. During Welly Wednesday we explored crawling through tunnels, tickled spiders and we completed our week by following the eclipse. A very busy week indeed!
This week we have been reading and enjoying the story of The Enormous Crocodile by Roald Dahl as part of our World Book Day Celebrations. We acted out and re-told the story. Designed new book covers for the story. Created a jungle tray and counted the animals we had used. We even designed some Crocodile Sandwiches. Check out our character puppets in the pictures below.
This week we have been getting ready for Valentine's Day by using our cutting skills to create "Send a Hug" mobiles. We also made some delicious coconut ice treats to take home and share with our families. Yum, Yum!
This week we have been reading The Smartest Giant in Town. We turned "Fashion Designers" and created and described new outfits for the Giant's wardrobe. We played games with the Giant's buttons to help us with our subtraction skills. We visited the "Hwb" and designed the Giant a new house for him to live in, using all the new information we have learned about materials this term.
This week we have been telling the story of Kassim and the Greedy Dragon. We have been learning our letter sounds by helping Kassim to return the Dragon's eggs to his nest. We have continued to explore printing and have used bubble wrap to print our very own dragon masks. Kassim needed help to count his jewels. We played a game counting how many jewels we could collect in 1 minute. Dosbarth Gwyrdd have also been comparing more and less while playing a game of feed the greedy dragon. Take a look below.
This week we have made the most of the windy, wintery weather. We took our "Wellie Wedneday" train on a journey, popped bubbles and practiced writing our names and letters in the snow!
This week we have been reading the story of Shh! Don't wake the Giant!! We arrived at school one morning to find the Giant had escaped from the book. We designed "Wanted" posters to find him. Take a look below. We have also been learning about castles and taking part in lots of fun learning activities. Take a look.
As part of our "Brilliant Building" topic we are exploring the story of "The Three Little Pigs" and are having fun with a "Huff and Puff" week. We have re-told the story in the outdoor area and created a picture comic using the I-pad. We laughed lots as we made our very own "Huff and Puff" paintings with straws and ping pong balls. Outside we have been trying to find ways of blowing the biggest bubble! Bob the Builder also sent us a challenge. The 3 Pigs needed a new roof and we needed to investigate the best way to keep the pigs dry.
