This week we have been learning about traditional Caribbean stories. Some of these stories involve a character called Brer Anansi, a small spider who is half human. He likes to play tricks on the other animals in the rainforest. We created our own stories for this weeks Big Write. We had to give the animals human characteristics, much like our fables, and write in the style of the original stories. Last week we heard back from the explorer Hubert Winklebottom. He had contacted us three weeks ago telling us how he had become shipwrecked on a beautiful but mysterious island. By using the clues that he gave us, we found out that he was on the Carribean island of Saint Lucia. We had sent him information and videos on how to survive on a deserted island. I interviewd him on his return where he told us all about his exciting adventure. For our Big Write this week, we wrote a newspaper story about his lucky escape.
