Another fantastic week in Dosbarth Arian! After all of the excitement of the time capsule find we were ready and raring to go! Take a look at what we've been up to...
We started our week with Reading Power. W are learning to infer from text. This week we looked at pictures and discussed what we though was happening before, during and after. We used Apple TV to show the rest of the class what we had done.
In science this week we have been starting our investigations into sound and light. On Monday we were given the question 'What is sound? ' Miss Phillips gave us lots of different things to use to help us work out the answer in our groups.
We have done lots of work this week on using dialogue ready for our Big Writing on Friday. We loved using the sentence strips and writing sentences for our friends to add speech marks to. We also really enjoyed turning speech bubbles into dialogue.
Lots of hands on maths this week investigating symmetry and sequencing.
How to open a story... Hmmmmm... We looked at lots of interesting ways in which we could open our stories in Big Writing on Friday;
Dialogue
Setting
Action
Character
We got into groups and used a stimulus to plan and write an opening of our choice.

In computing this term we are becoming bloggers! This week we looked at lots of examples of blogging and discussed;
What makes a good blog?
What do all blogs have in common?
What audience is each blog aimed at?
Stay tuned on here and visit our Hwb+ Blog to see some of our blogs.

We found lots of great ways to travel in PE this week using many different parts of the body. We can't wait to put these with our 1960s dance moves to make our sequences!
More investigating story openings, this time with a range of Roald Dahl books. We went on a VCOP hunt looking for interesting vocabulary, connectives, openers and punctuation.
We then used our findings to create a comic strip on the IPads. We had some spectacular efforts and it was lovely to see them presented using Apple TV.

We decided on our group names this week;
The Monkees
The Beatles
The Supremes
The Beach Boys.
After we had chosen them we researched their impact on 1960s music. After lots of internet searching, singing and dancing we decided that The Monkees were our favourite! :0)

Today we used the knowledge we had built throughout the week to write our own opening of Roald Dahls Charlie and The Chocolate Factory. Miss Phillips was super pleased with the effort that we made!
So as you can see another extremely productive week in Dosbarth Arian! Heres to many more to come! Have a great weekend! :0))
