So this week was full of fun and learning! From frog hopping our way to learning new mathematical methods to stepping into the shoes of dastardly pirates. Take a look at our week in pictures! :0)
It may have only been a short week this week but oh did we learn lots! Quick maths was a big hit as usual... In English we concentrated on embedded clauses and letter features... In maths we have been super busy looking at comparing numbers, methods of addition and palindromic numbers... In science we discussed the properties of materials and why they may be used for different purposes. Once we had thought about this we started to plan next weeks investigation, "Which ball is the bounciest?" We worked in groups to discuss and note our ideas using the investigation boards. Come back next week to see how our investigations go! We learned that Christopher Columbus had sent a letter to explorers asking them to use maps to find the Lost Land of Gold. But who was he? We decided to find out more... And we've still been keeping fit and getting into gear in the mornings with 5 a Day Fitness! We ended the week with two special assemblies. One from Mad Science where we discussed the science behind sport and one from PC Bennet telling us his expectations from our school this year. Another great week! Enjoy the weekend everybody! :0) What a week it's been! A great start to our topic El Dorado with lots of research and lots of fun! Take a look at what we've been up to... We started the week in the Hwb and began our ICT topic "We are game developers" We discussed the games that we enjoy and why they are so good. Then we used the coding website Scratch to explore different games made using the Scratch programming language. Once we had all had a good look at a wide range of games we discussed algorithms and looked at some examples. Then it was time to pair up and write our own! On Monday we began our A Tale Unfolds journey to El Dorado, we discussed our plans to make a film all about 3 detectives on a quest to find The Lost City of Gold! This weeks maths was place value. Miss Phillips said she was super impressed with our knowledge of 4 and 5 digit numbers! After such an exciting start to our literacy we decided that we wanted to learn more about this mysterious place called El Dorado, so we worked in pairs and threes to undertake some serious research. So... We have something new in class. It's called "Teamwork Bingo!" Miss explained that whenever we may do something super good she will give us a bingo number! We can then cover that number on our bingo board. Once we get 10 in a row we get a reward! But what would we like? Time to discuss and share. This week it was our task to create character profiles for our 3 detectives. To help us make our sentences into WOW sentences, Miss showed us how to use 2A sentences. Take a peek at what w came up with. We then used these for our Big Writing session. And so it was Friday! Where did the week go?! Time for filming! We've done all the writing needed to help us film our own character descriptions. We sorted ourselves into groups of 3 and discusses which job we would like. Camera person? Narrator? Actor? Once sorted we picked our props and costumes and began green screening!!! Nothing better than a bit of PE to end the week :0) Another fantastic week to say the least!! Don't forget there is no school for you Monday so enjoy a lovely long weekend, you deserve it!! Da Iawn pawb!! :0)) Well, I'll start by saying, what an absolutely fantastic first week back!! We may have only had 3 days but boy were they jam packed!! Take a look at what we've been up to! Once we had solved the problems we matched the numbers to the given letters to crack the code. 5 a day is back!! Ohhh... How we missed it!! I'm sure that you agree, what a fun filled, jam packed week!! I can't wait to see what the next weeks bring!! Have a wonderful weekend everybody! You deserve it! :0)) |
