What an exciting morning we've had in Dosbarth Arian! Mad Science Wales showed us some amazing science experiments using dry ice. Did you know that dry ice is actually Carbon Dioxide? Take a peek at the photos below to see what the exciting things you can do with it...
First we added warm water and watched as it changed state. Some of us thought it looked like clouds. I wonder if that is what a cloud would actually feel like?
Look at what happened when the scientist added washing up liquid! Bubbles everywhere!
Then we had a competition to see who could inflate their balloon the most using just a small amount of dry ice. We found out that shaking the balloon helped it to inflate quicker.
The scientist helped us to use the dry ice to put out a candle. Now we know why they use carbon dioxide in fire extinguishers!
We loved getting a dry ice shower! Some of the bubbles even stuck to our heads!
To end the workshop we created our very own X Factor style stage, it was funny to watch our feet disappear in the vapour.
We have had a fantastic morning learning with Mad Science Wales and we cannot wait for the Techniquest workshops tomorrow! Watch this space to see what we get up to!
